| I am a 40 something old man who likes to live a balanced life. I was born and brought up in India and moved to the USA in my early twenties. For formal degrees I managed to get a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engg and a Masters in Computer Science.
I live in Florida and work as a computer programmer. This website is my contribution for a better world.

| God - We desperately need God. Where is she ? No one has seen God !
Religion - I have never been a follower - always a maverick.
We don't use ancient technology - why the heck should we use ancient ideas.

What is your opinion on love ? sex ? marriage ?

| Love - Without love this life is meaningless. There are various kinds of love - for kids, lover/spouse, parents/family/friends, etc.
A key ingredient to love is compassion.
Sex - It is a built in biological need and helps satiate and stabilize the mind. We should regard it as a normal activity without attaching too much mystery or significance to it. It has be had with responsibility.
Have fun but don't go nuts.
Marriage - If you are in a bad marriage - get the hell outta there. A good marriage is heaven and a bad one, hell.
I don't think its for everyone - because it involves give n take. |
Are you happy ? Why or why not? How do you think a person can be happy ?

| I am currently very happy. I have a good job, in a great location with a fantastic family. And I have good health.
If you don't have excruciating circumstances, happiness is definitely up to you. To be happy compare yourself to people who have less than you in terms of health, wealth, family life, etc.
Realize that "The grass will always be green on the other side" and that's a mirage.
And like Sheryl Crow croons - "Its about wanting what you have and NOT about having what you want".

If you think you are wealthy ? what made you this wealth ? if you are not wealthy, what kept you back ?

| I am not wealthy by choice. I've realized in life that you transact money for your time AND/OR peace of mind. I am not willing to do that transaction.
Plus, in the one track pursuit of wealth you completely miss out on the various wonders, aspects and beauty of life. E.g. a walk in the park, enjoying the benevolent smile of your kid/spouse, heart to heart to heart conversation with another human being, sunsets, reading, meditating, smelling the roses etc. etc. etc. |
What is your opinion on death ?

| From a non-religious perspective -
We were dead before. I mean before we were born we didn't exist. After we die we will not exist. So its the same thing - we come from nothing and go into nothing. We didn't suffer before - why would the next death be different ??
Updated 1/1/09 - Death is freedom from Maya. Its the awakening from the matrix of this created world.
Generally most people live their lives like they will live forever.
They are deceiving themselves, obviously.
Keeping in mind that we will die, soon, can help us live an effective life - knowing that we only have some limited moments and we need to put those precious moments to best use. |

| Hmmm. If you are a straight shooter the road to wealth is generally going to be tough. You should learn to recognize whats a downstream career - I mean for every place and time society rewards certain careers - recognize those and swim downstream.
Also, have multiple streams of income.
Most important is the desire and the willingness to pay the price - in terms of time and peace of mind.

What is THE MOST important thing to you in your life ? Why ?

| Balancing out life is. Love is. Family is.
Why - If there is no balance in life you may end up neglecting important aspects of life.
Without love, life is meaningless.
Family provides you your own personal world.

If you had to pass on advise to your kids about how to live life, what would that be ?

| Be peaceful and happy.
Lead a balanced life.
But realize - the other side of this coin - this will be a mediocre life.
Updated 1/1/09 - Please pass the test of this life. There are different paths to peace. You might as well take the straight path. Updated 12/1/09 - Your life was created by your Creator. In order to live a successful life you need to follow your Creator's guidance.
2/23/2009 - Do not be arrogant with your Creator AND do not be arrogant with any of his creation.
6/25/2011 - Be thankful for your blessings that you probably take for granted.
2/6/2012 - Be at peace with both, the Creator and creation.

Is a person in control of his/her destiny ? Why or why not ?

| You have some control, some of the time. Both your actions and and your fate contribute to your destiny. These two are intermingled I believe.
On the one hand if you are born a blind person into slavery during tyrannical times - there are good chances you are totally screwed.
But on the other hand there are people like Helen Keller who seem to take charge of their destiny. But then again what if she died of an accident at the age of 2 ?
I think both are important.
We need to realize the extent of the area of our circle of influence and strive to keep increasing that area of influence - without harming ourselves.
As the AA puts it - God, grant us the serenity to accept the things we cannot change, courage to change the things we can,
and wisdom to know the difference.
Both - the will of man and the will of God are equally important. |
